Viewers of the TV Awards ceremony admitted they were moved to tears after a touching In Memoriam clip paid tribute to late and Dennis Waterman.
The awards ceremony, which took place at ‘s Royal Festival Hall on Sunday, paid tribute to the stars who have passed away over the last 12 months in a touching montage.
Host Richard Ayoade announced the segment and paid tribute to Dennis Waterman, who died today at the age of 74, ahead of airing the emotional clip.

Richard, 44, said: ‘It is time to pause, reflect and remember the people we have lost in the past 12 months.
‘I am sad to announce that the great Dennis Waterman has passed away today.’
A montage then appeared on screen, paying tribute to a host of incredible talents who sadly died, including Betty White, Una Stubbs and Barry Cryer.
One of the most heart-wrenching moments of the segment was when an emotional clip of EastEnders’s June Brown, who died on April 3, was aired.

In a scene from the BBC soap opera, June said: ‘Enjoy the time you’ve got, it’s over in the blink of an eye.’
After watching June’s poignant comments, many emotional viewers took to Twitter to admit that the moment left them in floods of tears.
One said: ‘Nah the clip of June Brown I am in bits.’
Another added: ‘The June Brown quote got me.’
The collage also paid tribute to comedian Sean Lock, who died on August 16 after a private battle with lung cancer, and Girls Aloud’s Sarah Harding, who died from breast cancer on September 5.
Music entrepreneur Jamal Edwards – the son of Loose Women’s Brenda Edwards – and The Wanted’s Tom Parker – who died in March after a brain cancer battle – were also remembered.

Other stars included were Only Fools and Horses star John Challis, EastEnders’s Tony Selby, director Kevin Billington, The Bill’s George Rossi and stage star Peter Bowles.
Taking to Twitter after watching the montage, floods of viewers admitted that they were left teary-eyed and saddened.
One wrote: ‘Gosh, you forget all the amazing talent we’ve lost over the past year until they do that moving ‘In memoriam’ section at the #BAFTAS.Incredibly moving.’
Another said: ‘Nice tributes to Betty White, Lynda Baron, Una Stubbs, Anna Karen and June Brown. So many true icons have left us in the past year.’

While a fifth penned: ‘Awful lot of young people in the In Memoriam sector of the #Baftas2022.So utterly sad.’
A sixth tweeted: ‘God, sarah’s name popping up in the baftas in memoriam has absolutely knocked me for six.’
Another said: ‘It was nice @RichardAyoade managed include a mention of [Dennis Waterman] in tonight’s @BAFTA Awards.’

The touching segment came after Dennis Waterman’s family announced earlier on Sunday that he died at the age of 74.
He was one of the most popular television actors of the 1970s in 80s, starring as bodyguard Terry McCann in Minder after first finding fame as tough nut cop George Carter in The Sweeney.
In more recent years, he starred as Gerry Standing in the BBC’s New Tricks, and throughout his career other TV roles included ITV’s Where The Heart Is, The Canterbury Tales and Moses Jones, both for the BBC..
In a statement, his family said he died on Sunday in Spain with his wife Pam at his side.
They stated: ‘We are deeply saddened to announce that our beloved Dennis passed away very peacefully at his home in Spain. The family kindly ask that our privacy is respected at this very difficult time.’

Channel 4 series It’s A Sin leads the nominations at the Bafta television awards where it is in the running for 11 gongs.
Landscapers, which starred Olivia Colman, has received seven nominations while Channel 4’s acclaimed pandemic-set drama Help, starring Jodie Comer and Stephen Graham has earned six nods.

It’s A Sin, written and created by Queer As Folk and Doctor Who screenwriter Russell T Davies, tracked a group of gay men and their friends as they navigated the UK’s HIV/Aids crisis throughout the 80s and early 90s.
The show’s 11 nominations, comprising of five in the craft categories and six in the television awards categories, include nods for Davies in the writer drama category, as well as a leading actor nomination for singer Olly Alexander for his role as Ritchie Tozer.
His co-star Lydia West has been nominated in the leading actress category, alongside Kate Winslet, who starred in HBO/Sky Atlantic’s Mare Of Easttown, and marking The Titanic star’s first TV performance nomination, although she has previously been nominated for and won film Baftas, and is a previous Britannia Award winner.

Sky drama Landscapers, which also starred Olivia Colman, who is not nominated in the performance categories, is the second-most nominated TV show, with seven in total, five in the craft categories and two in the television categories.
Inspired by real events, the series starred Colman and Thewlis as a mild-mannered married couple whose lives are upturned after dead bodies are discovered in the back garden of a house in Nottingham.
